The Wave is an activity tracker but unlike most of other activity trackers on the market, you do not have to wait to synchronize your data to see the different parameters measured. Here's what you can see directly on the screen of the iHealth Wave.
To switch from one display to another, place your wrist in front of you as if you wanted to look at the time, and make a firm rotation of the wrist. Each rotation changes the display.
You can also tap on the iHealth Wave screen.
Information visible in swimming mode
Date and time
The date and time are automatically updated as soon as you connect your iHealth Wave to your smartphone.
Number of steps
The iHealth Wave records the number of steps taken during the day thanks to a specially developed algorithm coupled to a 3-axis accelerometer. Whether you're walking, running or climbing stairs, every step is recorded, allowing you to evaluate your activity day after day and compare it to the World Health Organization's goal (WHO recommends to make 10,000 steps per day) or to the goal you will have set yourself in the app.
The number of steps is reset every day at midnight. The non-synchronized data are saved in memory of the device until the next synchronization. See the article When should I sync my iHealth Wave?
Distance traveled
The distance traveled is calculated according to the number of steps taken and the information recorded in your profile (size, weight).
The distance traveled is reset every day at midnight. The non-synchronized data are saved in memory of the device until the next synchronization. See the article When should I sync my iHealth Wave?
Calories burnt
The iHealth Wave calculates all the calories burned throughout the day. Those burned by physical activity but also that burned by the basal metabolism.
The basal metabolism corresponds to the "incompressible" energy needs of the organism, it means the daily minimum energy expenditure enabling the body to function. It is determined by age, sex, height and weight. At rest, the body consumes energy to maintain its functions (heart, brain, lungs...).
This is why when you wake up, even if you have not taken any steps, you will already see a certain amount of calories burned.
The calories burnt are reset every day at midnight. The non-synchronized data are saved in memory of the device until the next synchronization. See the article When should I sync my iHealth Wave?
Activity level
The activity level screen let you know where you are in the goal set (goal and swim goal).
By default the objectives are defined as follows:
- Daily activity goal = 10000 steps (as recommended by WHO)
- Swim goal = 30 min
You can change your goals in the application:
For the daily activity goal, go to Menu> Settings> Goals
For the swim goal, go to MENU > Set up my devices > Select your Wave > Swim goal
Workout summary
When you walk or run for more than 10 minutes without stopping, the iHealth Wave enters the workout mode and exits it after 5 minutes of break. A summary of this workout session is displayed on the screen and is available for 30 minutes after the other information visible on the iHealth Wave.
This summary shows the duration of the workout session, the number of steps, distance traveled and calories burned during the workout session.
This summary will also be synchronized with the app and will be displayed in a dedicated view.
Duration by swim style
During a swim session, the iHealth Wave automatically enters in the swim mode after 20 seconds of continuous swim. The iHealth Wave recognizes 3 styles of swimming (breaststroke, crawl, back crawl). During a swim session, you can view the following information on the screen of the iHealth Wave by rotating the wrist or tapping the screen. In order:
- Duration of the last swim performed.
- Duration of the swim style the most practiced
- Duration of the swim style the less practiced
- The percentage of goal achieved
Percentage of goal achieved
This screen shows you the time, the percentage of goal achieved, the duration of your pending swimming session.
By default, the swim goal is set to 30 minutes. You can change your goals in the application. To do that, go to MENU > Set up my devices > Select your Wave > Swim goal.
Swimming summary
At the end of each swim session, the iHealth Wave automatically exits swimming mode and displays a summary of your swim session:
- Duration of the session
- Calories burned during the session
- Number of breaststroke, crawl or backstroke (STR)
- Number of breaststroke, crawl or backstroke per minute (SPM)
- This summary remains visible for 30 minutes. It will be synchronized with the app like the other data and will have a dedicated view in the app.
