Taking Measurements
Begin with proper placement of the cuff
The blood pressure monitor has a one-size cuff. It adapts to any arm circumference from 22 to 42 cm. If your arm is too big for this cuff, using a wrist blood pressure monitor may be more suitable for you.
- Position the cuff1/2” (1-2cm) above your elbow joint and secure the cuffon your arm leaving enough space to fit one finger between the cuffand arm.
- Placement on left arm (red arrow pointing to the shoulder): When the left arm (blue arrow points down to the hand) is measured, position the monitor in the middle of your arm so that it is aligned with your middle finger.
- Placement on right arm (red arrow pointing to the hand): When the right arm (red arrow points down to the hand) is measured, position the monitor in the middle of your arm so that it is aligned with your middle finger.
Note - Do not roll up your sleeve to avoid making a tourniquet and distorting the measurement. If your sleeve is very thin, place the blood pressure monitor on top of it. If your sleeve is a little thicker, remove it.
Measuring in the seated position
- Sit with your feet flat on the floor, without crossing your legs.
- Place your hand, with the palm facing up, on a flat surface such as a table.
- The middle of the cuff should be at the level of the right atrium of your heart.
Measuring in a lying down position
- Lie on your back and extend your arm alongside your body, with the palm facing up.
- Position the air tube in the center of your arm in line with your middle finger.
- The cuff should be placed at the same level as your heart.
Recording your measurements
The iHealth Neo (BP5S) is designed to be used online (in conjunction with the iHealth MyVitals app) or offline (Without the app present). The device can store up to 200 measurements with date and time stamp. Once the memory reaches 200 measurements in memory, the device will start overwriting the oldest measurement in memory. It is important to sync your device to the app periodically to transfer measurements in memory to the app to reduce data loss. Another reason to periodically sync with the app is to receive any firmware updates.
