dynamic measurement mode. This mode is particularly - Step 4 Read temperature
The confirmation beep indicates a temperature
measurement has been taken.
The chart below illustrates how display colors and confirmation beeps vary in response to different temperature results:
Other Settings
How do I switch modes?
The default mode is baby temperature mode. To switch between the three modes, please follow the
steps below:
1) In the measurement state, press the settings button briefly to enter the mode switching state
2) Press the settings button briefly to cycle through the baby mode, adult mode, and object temperature mode, with corresponding icons displayed on the screen.
3) Press the measurement button to save the current settings and initiate a measurement process.
How do I switch units?
1) Press and hold the measurement button for 8 seconds to enter the unit switching mode.
2) The screen flashes the current unit. Press the measurement button to toggle between ℃ and ℉ , then the selected unit will flash, accompanied by a short beep.
3) Press and hold the measurement button for 2 seconds to confirm the setting, the current unit ℃ or ℉ will light up for 3 seconds, accompanied by a short beep. And then the thermometer turns off automatically.
Note: The thermometer will automatically turn off after 15 seconds of inactivity, and the selected unit will also be saved automatically even if without pressing the measurement button for confirmation.
How do I mute or unmute PT9L thermometer?
Toggle the mute switch on the side of the thermometer to mute or unmute the device.
What should I do if I want to check previous readings?
Press and hold the settings button [] for 3 seconds to enter the memory mode, and the memory icon "M" will flash simultaneously. Release and use the settings button to toggle between the different memories, and the latest memory will be shown as the first memory. If you want to view more memories of other modes, please choose your desired mode at first.
How do I delete all memories?
In the power-off state, press and hold the measurement button and the settings button simultaneously for 8 seconds until the icon of “dEL” and “M” flash on screen. After 2 seconds, all memories will be deleted, and only the "dEL" icon shows up on screen. And the thermometer will turn off automatically after 3 seconds.
How to turn off the PT9L thermometer?
The PT9L thermometer has no Power Off button. It turns off automatically after 15 seconds of inaction.
Are replacement batteries readily available for it?
Yes, the PT9L thermometer uses 2 AAA batteries which are included. Follow the steps below to replace the battery.
1) Press down the battery cover and slide the cover to open the battery compartment.
2) Remove the old batteries and install new batteries.
3) Refer to the battery polarity symbols to orient the batteries properly during installation. Make sure that the new batteries are tightly inserted into the battery compartment and the polarity is not reversed during installation.
4) Reinstall the battery cover to close the battery compartment.
What does the color means on the screen?
To make it easier to interpret measurement results, the PT9L displays a certain color depending on the result:
In the baby temperature mode,
1) When the measured temperature is below 100.3˚F(37.9°C), white color will be displayed on the screen.
2) When the measured temperature is 100.4˚F(38.0°C) or higher, red color is displayed on the screen.
In the adult temperature mode,
1) When the measured temperature is below 99.4˚F(37.4°C), white color will be displayed on the screen.
2) When the measured temperature is between 99.5˚F(37.5°C) and 100.3˚F(37.9°C), orange color is displayed on the screen.
3) When the measured temperature is 100.4˚F(38.0°C) or higher, red color is displayed on the screen.
There is only white color displayed in the object temperature mode.
What is dynamic measurement mode?
Dynamic measurement mode is gives a reading after holding the measurement button for 2 seconds. This mode takes longer and collects more data than the normal mode, providing more stable readings.
Do not move the thermometer during the dynamic measurement mode. Keep the probe aimed at the same spot for 2 seconds.
What is the difference between normal mode and dynamic mode?
Get results in 1 second is normal mode, and it takes 2 seconds to get results for dynamic measurement mode.Normal mode is suitable for fast, quick readings, while dynamic mode is ideal for situations where stable values are needed, such as before and after administering fever medication or for a sleeping baby.
Is dynamic mode more accurate than normal mode?
Dynamic mode detects double data collection compared to normal mode and acts as a supplementary
mode for stable readings. Therefore, it is possible for there to be a difference between the readings of
dynamic mode and normal mode.
Does it provide consistent readings when taking multiple measurements?
Temperature varies from time, subject, and measurement zones. There may be slight differences when taking multiple measurements.
Body temperature fluctuates over time, and fever can vary significantly in infants. Even different spots on the same area may show different temperatures. For best results, refer to the user manual.
Why can baby/adult mode also measure object temperature?
The iHealth PT9L thermometer will display a reading as long as the subject is within its measurement range. It cannot distinguish between a person and objects. Keep in mind that the algorithms for body temperature mode and object temperature mode are different. Measuring objects in body temperature mode will not provide accurate results. For best results, refer to the user manual.
What can I do if results appear to be incorrect?
1)Check that the thermometer lens is perfectly clean. If in doubt, clean the lens with a cotton swab
lightly moistened with isopropyl alcohol. After cleaning, wait 30 minutes before taking a measurement.
2)Check that there is no hair, sweat, cream or other cosmetic products on the forehead surface and
make sure aim the probe at subject no more than 1.18in(3cm).
3)Make sure that the thermometer has been at the ambient temperature for at least 30 minutes.
Is its accuracy comparable to rectal thermometers?
Temperature varies from measurement zones.
- The average normal oral temperature is 37°C.
- A rectal temperature is 0.3°C to 0.6°C higher than an oral temperature.
- Ear (eardrum) temperature is 0.3°C to 0.6°C higher than oral temperature.
- Axillary temperature is generally 0.3°C to 0.6°C lower than oral temperature.
The iHealth PT9L thermometer gives a result equivalent to an oral temperature. If you would like to
compare the results obtained with your iHealth PT9L thermometer, please compare it to an oral temperature. Ear and rectal temperatures are normally higher than oral and forehead temperatures.
