How does the iHealth® Early Pregnancy Test work?
The iHealth® Early Pregnancy Test checks for the presence of the hormone hCG (human chorionic gonadotropin) in your urine. This hormone usually increases to a detectable level in urine a few days after conception. Drinking too much water may dilute the concentration of hCG in urine.
When can I test with the iHealth® Early Pregnancy Test?
You can use the iHealth® Early Pregnancy Test as early as 6 days before your missed period (5 days before you expect your period). The amount of hCG in the urine increases as a pregnancy progresses. If you test early and the result is negative (not pregnant), there is still a chance that you might be pregnant. In clinical testing with early pregnancy samples, the iHealth® Early Pregnancy Test gave the following results:
The iHealth® Early Pregnancy Test is >99% accurate from the day of the expected period in clinical data.
What time of day should I take a test?
The first morning urine has the highest hCG concentration but samples any time during the day can be used.
What should I do if the test result is PREGNANT?
A positive pregnancy test result indicates you may be pregnant. If your result is positive, you should see your doctor. A confirmed pregnancy diagnosis should only be made by a physician after all clinical and laboratory findings have been evaluated.
What should I do if the test result is NOT PREGNANT?
When the test result is negative, it indicates that you may not be pregnant. If pregnancy is still suspected, test again using a new device. If you still get a negative result and your period is late, you should see your doctor.
When should I read the test result?
The test result should be read as soon as possible after waiting for 3 minutes. Test results should not be read after 5 minutes.
Will taking certain medications affect my test result?
Always read the manufacturer's’ instructions for any medication you are taking before testing. If you get any unexpected results you should discuss them with your doctor. Medications containing hCG and other hormone therapies can affect the result. The test should NOT be affected by common painkillers, alcohol, or antibiotics.
